After Care Instructions

After Care Do’s:

  • Keep your piercing clean and dry.

  • Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your ears or earrings.

  • Make sure there is space between the back of the ear and the earring back to allow ample air flow to facilitate healing.

  • Cleanse your piercing site 2-3x daily with the recommended after-care solution. Make sure to clean both front and back. As a general rule, the less you mess with your new piercings the better. You can rotate your earrings one full rotation once daily, no more is needed or you will be at increased risk of developing scar tissue.

  • Cleanse piercings with aftercare solution immediately after swimming, exercising, playing outside, doing yardwork, etc. to help decrease the risk of infection.

  • Be careful while brushing your hair, removing clothing, or participating in sports. For sports you will need to cover your piercings with a Band-Aid during the initial 6 week healing period.

  • Keep earrings in at all times during the first year. They can still close up even if you leave them out over-night.

  • Monitor for symptoms of infection including: fever, swelling, intense pain, yellow drainage, or spreading redness 48 hours after the procedure. If you notice any of these symptoms please follow up with your healthcare provider.

After Care Don’ts:

  • Do not remove your earrings during the initial 6 week healing period.

  • Do not clean your piercings with rubbing alcohol, peroxide, or anything other than the recommended aftercare solution. You can actually delay the healing process by using anything else.

  • Do not wear heavy earrings for the first year.

  • Do not wear earrings that contain nickel during the first year to avoid any possible allergies/irritation.
